Comparing the two build options, the Backstab build tends to be the most popular, and arguably stronger than the other build mentioned. Down below are the talents we recommend using for this build:

• Find Weakness reduces armor effectiveness on your target, making your burst windows valuable even on plate wearers such as Death Knights and Warriors.
• Sanguinary Vein grants increased damage when your target is affected by a bleed. This can be applied primarily through the Glyph of Hemorrhage that converts your Hemorrage to a bleed effect, making your windows even stronger during Shadow Dance.
• Energetic Recovery provides additional energy when using the spell, Recuperate. Instead of this ability now giving a valuable periodic heal, you are able to use more energy on more abilities.

Flexible Subtlety Rogue PvP Talents – Backstab Build

We can adjust the talents, Waylay and Honor Among Thieves, for extra defense, and increased combo point regeneration respectively. If you plan on playing a composition where you consider needing to protect yourself or your teammates from danger, you can swap out one point from Honor Among Thieves and place it in Waylay. If you believe survivalibility is not an issue for your current composition and the compositions you plan to face, then placing two points in Honor Among Thieves and one point in Waylay is best. Make sure to use both of these talents, as they both provide benefits to your overall gameplay in arena.

Hemorrhage Build

The Hemorrhage Build is a considered alternative when you need more survivability and tankiness in your composition. This is preferred when playing compositions that are more attrition based, RLS, but can still use the Backstab build if you plan on maximizing your damage.

What separates this Subtlety build from the previous build is that your Hemorrhages are being used as your primary builder outside of Shadow Dance as opposed to Backstab. In this build, we have selected a talent point in Coup De Grace due to the removal of Puncturing Wounds from the Assassination tree. Also, this allows you to pick up the talent, Improved Recuperate, granting you more Recuperate healing and a passive damage reduction when applied to your character. Instead of having increased Backstab damage, you are making your character more tanky.

This build is considered when you may be the optimal kill target for the compositions you are playing and you plan on winning during long games, but is not the most preferred option as the previous build offers more kill windows. Since health pools are smaller compared to the following Seasons in Cataclysm, it’s best to consider using this build in later Seasons as opposed to Season 9.
