Why Enhancement Shaman?
Enhancement Shaman is one of the few specializations that is considered a melee based hybrid. Although their healing is not as powerful as Retribution’s Word of Glory, this specialization still packs a considerable punch with its offensive burst pressure. With Enhancement Shaman having valuable utility cooldowns on a relative short cooldown, especially with Wind Shear and Grounding Totem, a defensive that is usable while in stun effects, and instant cast healing effects, this specialization can’t go unnoticed in a competitive scene.
Their offensive pressure primarily comes from Feral Spirit, as this is incorporated with other snapshotted modifiers to overwhelm your opponents. This specialization’s damage is more reliant on Critical Strikes on enemy targets, meaning that you will end up using Stormstrike to increase the chance of your non-periodic spells to crit. This will allow you have more value out of Flurry and Elemental Devastation.
Having these short cooldowns can assist with this specialization lasting for a longer duration in any matchup, allowing you to dwindle your opponent’s lengthy cooldowns in order to secure kills. Wind Shear being on a 5 second cooldown, when paired with Reverberation, and a 25 second Grounding Totem makes this specialization the best anti-caster melee.
Let’s not forget about their primary defensive, Shamanistic Rage, that is also on a 1-minute cooldown, allowing you to mitigate damage effects more often. It’s important to note that this spell is available even in stun effects, giving Enhance Shamans more opportunities to safely react to offensive spells.

Your attacks will generate a stack of Maelstrom, which results in an instant cast damaging or healing spell with no mana cost. You can also utilize Maelstrom Weapon to instantly apply Hex on your opponent, making it easier to effective control players.
