Best Discipline Priest PvP Races

Alliance

Night Elf

If you plan to choose Alliance as your faction for Discipline Priest in Cataclysm PvP, Night Elf is your best option out of both factions. Shadowmeld is very dynamic and provides a lot of uses when in PvP combat.

Immunity to Projectiles

Shadowmeld as a racial ability can immune any incoming projectiles, which includes abilities that require some travel time, Frostbolt & Death Coil, and can immune instant abilities such as Blind.

Dropping Combat

Shadowmeld has the ability to remove combat off of your character, which can grant the player an opportunity to sneak in drinks during games.

Target Dropping

When Shadowmeld has been used, it will remove you as the target or focus target to prevent players from either attacking or stopping casts immediately.

Quickness Racial

Night Elf also has the passive racial Quickness, which gives a 2% chance for spells to miss including CC.

Horde

Undead

If you plan to choose Horde as your faction for Discipline Priest in Cataclysm PvP, Undead is your best option to choose from. Undead provides the racial, Will of the Forsaken, which is treated as an additional Crowd Control break. Even though it is more inconsistent than Will to Survive due to the variance of compositions in arena matches and requires Vicious Gladiator’s Medallion of Tenacity instead of two on-use PvP trinkets, Undead is still your best option out of all Horde races.

Will of The Forsaken Racial

The racial ability, Will of the Forsaken, allows for an additional Crowd Control break against classes such as other Priests and Warlocks with Fear. An internal cooldown of 30 seconds is applied on your Vicious Gladiator’s Medallion of Tenacity, which means using this racial without caution can make you susceptible to swaps. This grants additional opportunities to finish games, save your teammates in crucial moments, and to apply Crowd Control, such as Psychic Scream, to shift the state of an arena match.

Alternative Discipline Priest PvP Races

Alliance

Dwarf

If you want an alternative race while playing as an Discipline Priest in Cataclysm PvP, Dwarf is a solid pick to choose. The racial ability, Stoneform, allows for more survivalibility when facing classes like Ferals and Rogues, but is overall worse since this racial ability is more inconsistent than Shadowmeld and Will of the Forsaken due to the variance of compositions in arena matches.

Stoneform Racial

Stoneform as a racial ability has the ability to clear all Poison, Disease, and Bleed effects off of your player, as well as a 10% damage reduction from players for 8 seconds. This racial will make your survivalibility a bit stronger when facing classes that require bleed damage, and can be used preemptively or reactively, paired with Vicious Gladiator’s Medallion of Accuracy, to mitigate any incoming burst damage.

Human

Human is an additional alternative race that you can choose as your faction for Discipline Priest in Cataclysm PvP. Having Will to Survive can provide you a Crowd Control break trinket that player can use instead of using the original PvP trinket purchased from the PvP vendors for Season 9. It is important to note that it is preferred to choose Night Elf over Human, as Night Elf provides more dynamic ways to avoid and assist your team in arena matches.

Substitute Trinket

Will to Survive as a racial ability has identical effects as the current Season 9 PvP trinket, Vicious Gladiator’s Medallion of Tenacity, which removes your character from any Crowd Control you are in. Having this racial be your substitute PvP trinket offers the opportunity to use multiple PvP on-use Trinkets, Vicious Gladiator’s Badge of Victory, to provide additional throughout during your burst windows to your enemy targets.
