Discipline Priest Stat Priority
Intellect > 4% Hit Rating > Spell Penetration (195) > Resilience (3000-3500) > Spirit (1500) > Mastery > Haste > Critical Strike
Prioritize Intellect as much as you possibly can. The more Intellect you have, the stronger your spells will be and the more mana you will have. After focusing on Intellect, make sure to have at least 4% Hit Cap first before focusing on your secondary stats. This makes sure that none of your abilities miss while attacking your opponent. Next, prioritize getting the PvP cloak, as this will grant you the necessary amount of Spell Penetration for your character.
After making sure you have enough Hit Rating and Spell Penetration, aim for at least 3000 Resilience for extra survivalibility. In combination with Focused Will, Inspiration, and Desperate Prayer, having this amount will make you less of a squishy target when in PvP content. If possible, try and reach 3500 Resilience due to Cloth wearers being the squishest from all armor types. Next, focused on receiving at least 1500 Spirit. This will provide more mana sustainability as a Discipline Priest, and is important due to Cataclysm having longer, drawn out arena matches.
For secondary stats, it’s important to prioritize Mastery first, then Haste, followed by Critical Strike. Having Mastery increases the absorption of your Power Word: Shield, which is extremely valuable due to Discipline Priests using this spell fairly often. After Mastery, you want to have some additional PvP gear pieces with Critical Strike. Critical Strike will provide extra absorption shields with Divine Aegis, and more physical damage reduction on your target with the talent, Inspiration.
You could itemize for more Haste if you are playing an aggressive comp like RMP.
In case you aren’t able to reach stat requirements, use reforging on any gear with either Haste or Critical Strike and convert to either Spirit or Hit, depending on your specialized needs.
