Best Balance Druid PvP Races

Alliance

Worgen

As this may come to a surprise for most people, Worgen will be your best option if you plan to choose Alliance as your faction for Balance Druid in Cataclysm PvP. This is due to Worgen’s racial, Darkflight, being stackable with Dash, allowing Druids to avoid melees and casted spells more effectively.

Darkflight

Darkflight as a racial ability grants 40% additional movement speed to your character for 10 seconds. This will provide you additional ways of avoiding enemy players.

Viciousness

Worgen also has the passive racial, Viciousness, which gives a 1% Critical Strike bonus to all spells used.

Horde

Tauren

If you plan to choose Horde as your faction for Balance Druid in Cataclysm PvP, Tauren is your best option to choose from. War Stomp provides uses when in PvP combat, but isn’t as strong as Worgen for Alliance.

Additional CC

War Stomp‘s ability grants an additional stuns that can be comboed with Druid Crowd Control, such as Cyclone, to provide players other options besides Bash or Pounce to initiate a CC chain.

HP Increase

Tauren is provided with a passive racial, Endurance, which grants 5% additional Stamina. Balance Druids are common targets in arena, and having this passive racial effect can be beneficial for your survivability.

Alternative Balance Druid Races

Alliance

Night Elf

If you want another option outside of Worgen when playing Balance Druid, Night Elf is still a great pick when it comes to Cataclysm PvP. This is due to receiving one of the most iconic racial abilities, Shadowmeld, which provides many uses in PvP combat.

Immunity to Projectiles

Shadowmeld as a racial ability can immune any incoming projectiles, which includes abilities that require some travel time, Frostbolt & Death Coil, and can immune instant abilities such as Blind.

Dropping Combat

Shadowmeld has the ability to remove combat off of your character, which can allow you to land restealths if necessary.

Target Dropping

When Shadowmeld has been used, it will remove you as the target or focus target to prevent players from either attacking or stopping casts immediately.

Quickness Racial

Night Elf also has the passive racial Quickness, which gives a 2% chance for spells to miss including Crowd Control.

Horde

Troll

If you want another viable option for Horde in Cataclysm PvP, Troll can be an alternative chosen instead of Tauren. With Trolls receiving the Berserking talent, this can be paired together with cooldowns for massive burst windows. Since Balance Druids are typically targetted and trained during most arena matchups, this will not assist you with your mobility, making it more difficult to avoid your opponents.

Berserking

Berserking as a racial ability grants 20% Haste to your character for 10 seconds. Since your Haste scales with your DoT effects, this will result in additional DoT ticks, and can assist you with DoT damage to make your opponents rot down faster.
