Table of Contents

All races listed below are all equally as good, as any of these picks allow you to climb up to the highest available ratings in any PvP bracket. That being said, it’s best to choose the race that best suits your personal liking.

Night Elf

If you plan to choose Alliance as your faction for Shadow Priest in The War Within, Night Elf is highly recommended because of its iconic racial, Shadowmeld. When given a skilled enough Priest, this can be a complete game changer of a spell due to how versatile it really is.

Immunities

Shadowmeld as a racial ability can immune any incoming projectiles, which includes abilities that require some travel time, Mortal Coil and Chaos Bolt, and can immune instant abilities, like Blind and Kidney Shot.

Target Dropping

When Shadowmeld has been used, it will remove you as the target or focus target to prevent players from either attacking or stopping casts immediately.

Racial Passives

Nature Resistance acts as a passive 1% damage reduction from any spell in the Nature category. Additionally, Touch of Elune provides either Haste or Critical Strike, and is determined by server time.

Human

As for our alternative pick, we have Human. This race gives you another way of getting out of stuns, and can also affect how you choose to gear your Shadow Priest.

Substitute Trinket

Will to Survive as a racial ability has similar effects to the current PvP trinket, but only removes stun effects from your character and is a 3 minute cooldown. You also have some flexibility using it, giving you the option to swap out your Medallion trinket for a trinket that provides more damage. If you choose to play with a PvP Medallion trinket as this race, you’ll be able to trinket out of stuns more often.

Dark Iron Dwarf

For our last viable option on Alliance, we have Dark Iron Dwarf. What makes Dark Iron Dwarf a promising pick is their racial Fireblood, acting as an offensive and defensive tool when pressed.

Fireblood Racial

Fireblood grants you primary stat, and is increased depending on the amount of bleeds, poisons, diseases, curses, and magic spells applied on your character. Any effect that increases primary stat will also be removed off your character, making this crucial to use in scenarios where you would want to alter the current state of a match into your favor.

Undead

If you plan to choose Horde as your faction for Shadow Priest in The War Within PvP, Undead is one of the strongest races to choose from. Your most valuable racial is Will of the Forsaken, reacting similar to Will to Survive for Human, but allows us to break out of any fear-like Crowd Control while putting our PvP Medallion on a 30 second internal cooldown.

Will of the Forsaken Racial

Will of the Forsaken reacts similar to your PvP Medallion, although instead of removing all Crowd Control effects, it removes only Fear Crowd Control effects.

Racial Passives

We also receive Touch of the Grave for a small healing and damage bonus whenever we attack a target, and have Shadow Resistance for a measly 1% damage reduction from any Shadow spell.

Orc

As for our last viable Horde race, we have Orc, passively granting us a reduction on any Stun effect that is applied to our character due to its most potent racial ability, Hardiness.

Hardiness Racial

Hardiness reduces the duration of all stuns on your character by 10%, as it is nerfed by half in PvP, making you less likely of becoming a kill target simply by this racial alone. This will grant you more overall uptime on your spells in any matchup.

Blood Fury Racial

Blood Fury acts as a flat on-use buff to our primary stat, always scaling the best at the beginning of every expansion.
