Shadow Priest Stat Priority

Versatility (25%) = Haste > Mastery > Critical Strike

Our main focus should be on both Versatility and Haste.

For Versatility, this stat is a no-brainer for PvP; we are almost always the kill target, and we are quite susceptible to death as a Cloth wearer. You’ll naturally obtain this stat through our gearing process, making you feel stronger defensively and offensively.

Aside from Versatility, you want to obtain the most amount of Haste possible without sacrificing too much Versatility. Not only does this reduce the global cooldown, but our DoT effects tick faster. More DoT ticks makes our damage way stronger, as a majority of our talents rely on periodic DoT damage to proc their effects.

Beyond these two stats, we recommend adding some Mastery, as our damage is increased depending on the amount of DoTs you apply on the target. Also, we receive maximum value out of this stat while in Voidform.

And Lastly, Critical Strike doesn’t serve much of a purpose in our toolkit, making this stat more or less avoided.

When it comes to trinkets, equipping Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity will be your best option. Not only does this provide us with a hefty amount of Haste, but it has a relatively high proc chance, making our direct and periodic spells relatively stronger while active.

You will then need a Forged Gladiator’s Medallion to break out of CC every 2 minutes.

An alternative trinket from Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity is Forged Gladiator’s Emblem, as this will assist us with surviving massive burst windows. You’ll want to pair this with Desperate Prayer, and is best used after pressing your Emblem trinket. This is because Desperate Prayer scales based on your current health, while providing you with more on-demand healing.

The Elemental Focusing Lens embellishment provides us with the most consistent throughput, and is only effective as long as you have at least 1 gem equipped.

This embellishment occasionally deals damage from a specific school of magic based on the gem you equip. Keep in mind that the damage from this embellishment can’t be buffed by cooldowns, talents, or any damage bonuses from school types.

Best Shadow Priest Gems

Core Gems: Cognitive Bloodstone + Versatile Emerald

In The War Within, you will use a Vicious Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets to your Helmet, Neck, Bracers, Belt and Rings. Two sockets can be added to the Neck and Rings.

With Haste and Versatility being your best secondary stats, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible. For your new unique PvP-specific gem, we highly recommend the Cognitive Bloodstone, which acts almost identical to the Precognition Embellishment from Dragonflight.

For all gem slots, we will use Versatile Emerald. This will provide us a hefty amount of Haste, while weaving in some Versatility for some extra tankiness.
