In this section, we will cover what has changed for Preservation Evokers, and what they currently bring to the table. Additionally, we will briefly touch on our new Hero talents.
What’s New for Preservation Evokers in The War Within?
The identity of Preservation Evoker in it’s current state remains as a truly aggressive healer with so much utility and healing to keep our team active.
Almost all of our class and spec talents are identical to how they were in Dragonflight, however we receive one talent that drastically influences our rotation and that is Lifespark. This makes us more inclined on buff maintenance in terms of Reversion, as we want to make sure we are always duplicating this ability with Echo to get our hands on as many Living Flame instant casts as possible. We will also discover why this is so important in our Hero talents.
Moving on, we are now introduced to a new section of talents, which are referred to as Hero talents. We have two to choose from, and for Preservation Evoker these are Flameshaper and Chronowarden.
Hero Tree: Chronowarden
Chronowarden is our preferred default, and for good reason as our damage and healing become way stronger. Additionally, we can now enhance our team’s damage with Threads of Fate, similar to an Augmentation Evoker, and have more defensive utility out of our Hover spell with our new talents, Warp and Temporality. The hallmark talent from this Hero tree is Chrono Flame, which converts a partial amount of our direct Living Flame damage as a dot, which either does damage or heals depending on who was affected by Living Flame. This also makes our Living Flame a Bronze spell, giving us more value out of Temporal Compression.
From Chrono Flame, we now want to focus on increasing our Living Flame uptime, meaning you’ll want to be using our empowered spells more often as they benefit from our endcap node, Afterimage, to apply up to 3 Living Flames on any targets affected by that empowered spell. You’ll also want to make use of Lifespark for more instant cast Living Flame procs. In terms of Afterimage, the empowered spell that you use does not depend on the level the spell is at, making our Dream Breath quite effective if we want to apply this on all of our allies as long as they are hit by its conical radius.
Hero Tree: Flameshaper
As for our Flameshaper, this heavy relies on buff maintenance even more than our preferred default loadout. This is primarily due to our hallmark talent, Engulf. The amount of healing and damage this ability provides is enhanced depending on how many hots or dots we have on the target, meaning its important to have your duplicated Reversion and Dream Breath on the target to heal the most out of this spell.
Unfortunately, Flameshaper is too weak in the current meta as it lacks healing potential through our primary empowerment spells, provides us with zero damage mitigation for ourselves, and zero cooldown reduction.
