Table of Contents

Night Elf

If you plan to choose Alliance as your faction for Mistweaver Monk in The War Within, Night Elf is your best option out of both factions. Shadowmeld is quite dynamic and offers multiple ways to effectively use this spell.

Immunities

Shadowmeld as a racial ability can immune any incoming projectiles, which includes abilities that require some travel time, Mortal Coil and Chaos Bolt, and can immune instant abilities, such as Blind and Kidney Shot.

Target Dropping

When Shadowmeld has been used, it will remove you as the target or focus target to prevent players from either attacking or stopping casts immediately.

Dropping Combat

Shadowmeld has the ability to remove combat off of your character, which can grant the player an opportunity to periodically sneak in drinks during games.

Racial Passives

Nature Resistance acts as a passive 1% damage reduction from any spell in the Nature Category. Additionally, Touch of Elune provides either Haste or Critical Strike, and is determined by server time.

Orc

If you plan to choose Horde as your faction for Mistweaver Monk in The War Within PvP, Orc is your best and most consistent option out of all Horde races. This helps alleviate the weakness of this spec dying in stuns due to Hardiness.

Hardiness Racial

Hardiness reduces the duration of all stuns on your character by 10%, which is nerfed by half in PvP combat. This will grant you more overall uptime on your abilities in any matchup, and will cause Subtlety Rogues to potentially gap their Crowd Control, buying you enough time to get your defensives off at crucial moments.

Blood Fury Racial

Blood Fury acts as a flat on-use buff to our primary stat, always scaling the best at the beginning of every expansion.

Undead

Followed by Orc is Undead, which provides us with the most iconic racial tied to this race, Will of the Forsaken. This reacts similar to Will to Survive for Human, but allows us to break out of any fear-like Crowd Control while putting our PvP Medallion on a 30 second internal cooldown before it can be used again.

Will of the Forsaken Racial

Will of the Forsaken reacts similar to your PvP Medallion, although instead of removing all Crowd Control effects, it removes only Fear Crowd Control effects.

Racial Passives

We also receive Touch of the Grave for a small healing and damage bonus whenever we attack a target, and have Shadow Resistance for a measly 1% damage reduction from any Shadow spell.

Pandaren

In cases where you want to add some change into your selection of races, Pandaren surprisingly is quite viable in ranked matchups. Quaking Palm is your strongest racial as a Pandaren, allowing you to follow up with an instant cast Crowd Control on targets in situations where Paralysis is on cooldown.

Quaking Palm Racial

Pandaren gives players, Quaking Palm, a 4 second Crowd Control on the Incapacitate Diminishing Returns effect. This means you’ll want to use this at times where you want to initiate some sort of Crowd Control chain without being solely reliant on Paralysis.
