What’s New for Havoc Demon Hunters in The War Within?

As we enter the new expansion, Demon Hunters keep a majority of talents and spells we have all been accustomed to from Dragonflight. The most distinguishable change focuses on our PvP talents, as Chaotic Imprint is now completely removed from our list of options, and even Cleansed By Flame now only removes one magic debuff off ourselves, after using Immolation Aura, instead of removing all magic debuff effects.

With patch 11.1, we also experience the removal of Any Means Necessary and the addition of Screaming Brutality, which was originally known as one of our tier set bonuses back in Dragonflight. To combat the removal of Any Means Necessary, we received a flat 25% Mastery buff to make our throughput consistently strong.

Jumping into the main focal point of The War Within, we are now introduced with two new Hero talent builds, as every class receives two to choose from. For Demon Hunters, we have Fel-Scarred and Aldrachi Reaver. These both provide great additions to our toolkit, and can be swapped around depending on our current matchup.

Overall, Havoc Demon Hunter tends to feel quite similar to its Dragonflight counterpart, but with new ways of delivering sustained burst damage. Most likely, we will continue to see this spec as a strong contender in the competitive scene as the season progresses.

Most of Havoc’s playstyle remains identical to how it has been in previous seasons. This involves remaining in the fight as a brawler, but can involve some finesse with their high mobility to avoid your opponent’s burst and to maintain uptime. This specialization can be easily peeled, and requires quick judgment and awareness to immediately negate damage with Darkness, Vengeful Retreat, and Netherwalk.
