Frost Death Knight Stat Priority

Versatility > Haste (20%) > Mastery > Critical Strike

Versatility will be our most important stat. You want to focus on getting as much of it as you can, up to at least 20%. This will happen automatically through PvP gearing, as most of the items you will end up using will have Versatility on them.

Depending on your weapon preference, your stat priority may slightly change to favor more Critical Strike but as of now is currently the same.

After Versatility we have Haste. It’s important to understand the percentage listed above Haste is a breakpoint. We want to obtain at least 20% Haste to have 2 additional globals during Pillar of Frost (12.5% Haste per global and 5% additional Haste comes from Death and Decay or from Empower Rune Weapon). Additionally, this stat increases our ticks we receive out of Frost Fever.

Followed by Haste is Mastery. Mastery is important too as it increases your damage profile, buffing your core damaging spells.

Lastly, we have Critical Strike. This stat is inherently our worst stat out of the bunch, but could potentially rise in representation for 1-handers due to The Long Winter.

Our 1-handers are currently more impactful thanks to The Long Winter for an increased chance of extending our Pillar of Frost duration, and Death’s Cold Embrace making Pillar of Frost way stronger of an offensive cooldown.

Trinkets

Trinket 1: Prized Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity
Trinket 2: Prized Gladiator’s Medallion

When it comes to trinkets, the offensive option is the Prized Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity. This trinket greatly increases our sustain damage and provides us with some static Haste which benefits our stat priority.

You will then need a Prized Gladiator’s Medallion to break out of CC every 2 minutes.

Humans then have the option to drop the Prized Gladiator’s Medallion for a Badge. This is due to Human having access to Will to Survive for breaking out of crowd control. However, the Medallion can still be a solid pick for Human into teams where you want more frequent access to a CC removal, as you will be able to rotate through the Prized Gladiator’s Medallion and Will to Survive every 90 seconds.

Best Frost Death Knight Embellishments

Item 1 & 2: Elemental Focusing Lens on any crafted piece.

The Elemental Focusing Lens embellishment is quite nice to have as it helps us with our consistent throughput. Make sure to have at least 1 gem equipped for this embellishment to work.

This embellishment occasionally deals damage from a specific school of magic based on the gem you equip. Keep in mind that the damage from this embellishment can’t be buffed by cooldowns, talents, or any damage bonuses from school types.

Best Frost Death Knight Gems

Core Gems: Enduring Bloodstone + Versatile Onyx
Alternative Gems: Masterful Emerald or Quick Onyx

In The War Within, you will use a Vicious Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets to your Helmet, Neck, Bracers, Belt and Rings. Two sockets can be added to the Neck and Rings.

As Versatility and Haste are your best secondary stats, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible. Enduring Bloodstone will be our newly introduced PvP gem that can only be attributed once onto your character’s gem slots. This will give you some additional damage reduction when affected by Crowd Control.

For all gem slots, we recommend using Versatile Onyx, however you can opt for Masterful Emerald or Quick Onyx depending on the gear you have equipped and your current secondary stats.
