Focus and Arena Macros
These macros follow the same idea as party macros and eliminate the need to manually change targets every time. They are very useful for CC and interrupts. While focus macros are easier to get used to and could be sufficient in most cases, arena macros are a lot more versatile as they allow you to interact with literally any opponent in the game at any point. The downside of making arena macros is the number of binds you will have to allocate. Not to mention, they are a lot more difficult to get used to. You could start by using focus macros for most of your abilities and arena macros for some of the most important CC, and expand the more you get used to it. As a Shaman, the spells that benefit the most from such macros are Wind Shear, Hex, Frost Shock, Pulverize, and Purge.

Party Macros
As a utility based specialization, there are times where you need to apply correct spell on your allies at the right time to keep your team stabilized. To streamline this process, you can make party1 and party2 macros, or use the names of your teammates. This way, you won’t need to change a target every time you want to cast a spell on an ally. If you go with player names, make sure you change the names in the macro if you get different teammates. As a Shaman, these are best paired with Earth Shield, Cleanse Spirit, and Heroism / Bloodlust.

Mouseover Macros
If party macros seem too overwhelming, you can substitute any of those with our mouseover macros. These work similar to cursor macros, but instead of it removing the reticle off the ground, this will apply any direct spell to any target you hover over your mouse with. You can do this to either allies or enemies, as long as the spell you are trying to use is applicable on those targets.
For Thunderstorm specifically, you will only make use of this macro if choose Traveling Storms in our class tree.

Damage Macros
If you want to deliver the most upfront burst possible with our Stormbringer tree, we advise picking up this macro and putting it into use. In this macro, we advise placing Blood Fury and Bloodlust together, or just Heroism if you’re playing as one of the Alliance races, with Doom Winds to streamline your burst window. Since you may want to apply Heroism / Bloodlust to different allies during arena matchups, we advise using two separate party macros.
Optionally, you could also add Ancestral Guidance as well since you will gaining the most out of this ability when either Doom Winds or Ascendance is active.

Cursor Macros
These macros allow you to cast the ability at the location of your cursor. This works with any totem and saves you a mouse click from needing to manually place the totem on the ground. You’ll want this type of macro ideally for Static Field Totem and Totemic Projection.
Keep in mind that cursor macros can be a detriment to your performance, as it can be important to see the reticle before placing a totem or repositioning it with Totemic Projection.

Cancelaura
When playing with a Retribution Paladin and against Mages, you definitely want to get your hands on cancelaura macros. These are super beneficial at times where the enemy Mage is trying to steal some core defensives or utility your Ret Paladin has applied to your character. This is especially valuable for Blessing of Protection and Blessing of Freedom. Instead of creating a separate bind for it, you could add it to an already existing bind, for example – your mount.
