Elemental Shaman Stat Priority

Versatility > Haste > Mastery > Critical Strike

Starting off, we have Versatility as our highest priority. This stat is fundamental to your success and is a no-brainer for PvP; we are often attacked in a majority of matchups, and we naturally obtain this stat through our gearing process. You’ll want to reach up to 25% of this stat to increase both our survivability and throughput.

After Versatility, you’ll want to focus primarily on Haste. This stat provides us with quality of life improvements to our gameplay, as it becomes easier to maximize GCDs, which is important in general for Shaman.

Then, we should look to acquire some Mastery too. This makes our Lava Burst procs stronger when they do duplicate, and becomes even better with Stormkeeper as our Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning always benefit off our Mastery when this cooldown is used. Not to mention, Mastery is more effective now when Ascendance is active, making our burst more impactful.

Followed by Haste and Mastery, we have Critical Strike. Although this stat is quite marginal in its effects, we have talents such as Elemental Fury and Primordial Fury that make our crits stronger.

For your first trinket, you’ll almost always use Prized Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity. We receive a constant flow of procs that buff our primary stat, and we receive even more Haste from equipping it.

You will then need a Prized Gladiator’s Medallion to break out of CC every 2 minutes.

As an alternative pick, you may find use out of Prized Gladiator’s Emblem if you are the opposing team’s kill target. In order for this trinket to have high value, you’ll want to use it before you enter Crowd Control. This reduces the chance of your character dying in a setup.

Best Elemental Shaman Embellishments

Item 1: Elemental Focusing Lens on any crafted piece.
Item 2: Elemental Focusing Lens on any crafted piece.

The Elemental Focusing Lens embellishment provides us with the most consistent throughput, and is only effective as long as you have at least 1 gem equipped.

This embellishment occasionally deals damage from a specific school of magic based on the gem you equip. Keep in mind that the damage from this embellishment can’t be buffed by cooldowns, talents, or any damage bonuses from school types.

Best Elemental Shaman Gems

Core Gems: Cognitive Bloodstone or Enduring Bloodstone + Quick Sapphire
Alternative Gem: Versatile Emerald

In The War Within, you will use a Vicious Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets to your Helmet, Neck, Bracers, Belt and Rings. Two sockets can be added to the Neck and Rings.

As Versatility and Haste are your best secondary stats, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible.

As for our PvP exclusive gems, only one of these can be attributed on your character’s gem slots. Out of these, we recommend two that you can choose from depending on what you prefer; Cognitive Bloodstone or Enduring Bloodstone.

Cognitive Bloodstone reacts almost identical to the Precognition embellishment from Dragonflight.
Enduring Bloodstone gives you some additional damage reduction when affected by Crowd Control.

For all gem slots, we highly recommend Quick Sapphire, although you can use Versatile Emerald for more Haste. For Quick Sapphire, this gem will provide us a hefty amount of Versatility, while weaving in some Haste to best suit our stat priority.
