Discipline Priest Stat Priority

Versatility (25%) > Mastery > Haste > Critical Strike

Our main focus should be on Versatility. This stat is a no-brainer for PvP; we occasionally throw out some damage to heal with Atonement, and we are quite susceptible to death as a Cloth wearer. You’ll naturally obtain this stat through our gearing process, making you feel stronger defensively and offensively.

Beyond this stat, we highly recommend getting as much Mastery as you can. This increases our healing and absorb effects on targets affected by Atonement, meaning that you’ll want to have Atonement up as much as you can to acquire the most healing possible.

After Mastery, we’ll be looking to add Haste into our gear. Although Haste is a bit lower priority than the other two stats, it is still valuable as it reduces the global cooldown and our casting speed. This also makes our Purge the Wicked tick faster, allowing us to maximize our From Darkness Comes Light stacks to buff our Flash Heal.

And Lastly, Critical Strike doesn’t serve much of a purpose aside from Inspiration in our class tree, making this stat more or less avoided.

When it comes to trinkets, equipping Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity will be your best option. This is because our Insignia trinket has a relative high proc chance, and when we combine this effect with our core healing spells, our sustain healing becomes a bit stronger.

You will then need a Forged Gladiator’s Medallion to break out of CC every 1 minute and 30 seconds.

An alternative trinket from Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity is Forged Gladiator’s Emblem, as this will assist us with surviving massive burst windows. You’ll want to pair this with Desperate Prayer, and is best used after pressing your Emblem trinket. This is because Desperate Prayer scales based on your current health, while providing you with more on-demand healing.

Best Discipline Priest Embellishments

Item 1: Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on Algari Competitor’s Lamp with Mastery / Versatility.
Item 2: Writhing Armor Banding on any crafted armor slot.

Alternative Items:
Energy Redistribution Beacon x2 on any crafted slot.

In most circumstances we will receive the most benefit out of Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and Writhing Armor Banding. These embellishments provide you with a constant flow of secondary stats, and are the most effective early in the expansion.

Alternatively, you can still make use of Energy Redistribution Beacon, as we will constantly receive health back from our Atonement healing. This gives us a minor boost to our sustain healing when we heal our teammates.

Best Discipline Priest Gems

Core Gems: Cognitive Bloodstone + Versatile Onyx

In The War Within, you will use a Vicious Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets to your Helmet, Neck, Bracers, Belt and Rings. Two sockets can be added to the Neck and Rings.

With Mastery being your best secondary stat, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible. For your new unique PvP-specific gem, we highly recommend the Cognitive Bloodstone, which acts almost identical to the Precognition Embellishment from Dragonflight.

For all gem slots, we will use Versatile Onyx. This will provide us a hefty amount of Mastery, while weaving in some Versatility for some extra tankiness.
