What’s New for Demonology Warlocks in The War Within?
A lot of change has occurred in The War Within, and Demonology Warlocks are no exception to this. What makes Demonology quite different in comparison to its Dragonflight counterpart is that it doesn’t heavily rely on Demonic Tyrant to deal massive burst. A majority of your damage is supplemented by your Vilefiend, which now provide us with massive empowerments to our pets and minions.
Not to mention, we obtain multiple uses of Healthstone in combat to assist us with our survivability, and our rotation becomes more fluid with Doom auto applying to the target we hit with Demonbolt. Occasionally, we can summon a Doomguard once Doom expires, making it beneficial to press Demonbolt on multiple targets.
Now, as for the bread and butter of The War Within, we receive two new Hero talents, to which are Diabolist and Soul Harvester.
Playstyle for Demonology Warlocks
In Demonology’s current state, you’ll be hard casting a lot to generate Wild Imps as well as your special demons. Special demons being Dreadstalkers, Vilefiend, which is necessary to use on cooldown to buff your demons, mainly Dreadstalkers, and Demonic Tyrant. Demonic Tyrant typically being the last one to cast as it extends their duration and makes their damage stronger.
To reduce our chances at having to cast Shadow Bolt in order to generate shards, we want to obtain Demonic Core for an instant cast Demonbolt. This will occur naturally when our Wild Imps go away, or upon using Implosion, but can be maximized from Doom if Doom Eternal is picked.
Most commonly Demonology Warlocks like to play for control on healers, and with how strong their Felguard’s Mortal Strike effect is you can expect Crowd Control on healers to be quite punishing when it does land.
