Beast Mastery Hunter Stat Priority

Versatility (25%) > Haste > Mastery > Critical Strike

Versatility will be our most important stat. You want to focus on getting as much of it as you can, up to at least 25%. This will happen automatically through PvP gearing, as most of the items you will end up using will have Versatility on them.

After Versatility we recommend grabbing a majority of Haste. This secondary stat reduces the global cooldown on all of our abilities, makes our auto shot more frequent, and increases the amount of ticks we receive out of our periodic effects. Additionally, this reduces the cooldown on our Barbed Shot, allowing us to benefit more often from War Orders to increase our Kill Command uptime. More Kill Command uptime means more Deathblow procs, increasing our Black Arrow throughput.

Not to mention, this gives us a higher proc rate on talents in our Dark Ranger tree, especially from Shadow Surge to receive more cleave damage, and Bleak Arrows for more Deathblow uptime.

Followed by Haste is Mastery. This is essential to our throughput, as we heavily rely on pet damage to make our specialization flourish.

Lastly, Critical Strike will be your last priority and is pretty much avoided during your gearing process.

When it comes to trinkets, we will be equipping Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity. It has an extremely high proc chance, and since we want high consistent damage, it’s our best option.

You will then need a Forged Gladiator’s Medallion to break out of CC every 2 minutes.

An alternative trinket from Forged Gladiator’s Insignia of Alacrity is Forged Gladiator’s Emblem, as this will assist us with surviving massive burst windows.

If you choose to play Human as a Beast Mastery Hunter, you have the option to drop Forged Gladiator’s Medallion for Forged Gladiator’s Badge of Ferocity, but is highly unlikely since you don’t have any other method of breaking out of CC. Fortunately enough, we can remove CC more often when our Medallion is used, as you will be able to rotate through the Forged Gladiator’s Medallion and Will to Survive every 90 seconds.

Best Beast Mastery Hunter Embellishments

The Elemental Focusing Lens embellishment provides us with the most consistent throughput, and is only effective as long as you have at least 1 gem equipped.

This embellishment occasionally deals damage from a specific school of magic based on the gem you equip. Keep in mind that the damage from this embellishment can’t be buffed by cooldowns, talents, or any damage bonuses from school types.

Best Beast Mastery Hunter Gems

Core Gems: Enduring Bloodstone + Quick Onyx
Alternative Gem: Masterful Emerald

In The War Within, you will use a Vicious Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets to your Helmet, Neck, Bracers, Belt and Rings. Two sockets can be added to the Neck and Rings.

As Versatility and Mastery are your best secondary stats, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible. Enduring Bloodstone will be our newly introduced PvP gem that can only be attributed once onto your character’s gem slots. This will give you some additional damage reduction when affected by Crowd Control.

For all gem slots, we will use Quick Onyx or Masterful Emerald, depending on which secondary stat you have less of. Both of these gems provide the best overall boost to your favored stats.
