Table of Contents

In this section, we will cover what has changed for Augmentation Evokers, and what they currently bring to the table. Additionally, we will briefly touch on their current playstyle and how they generally feel in the current meta.

What’s New for Augmentation Evokers in The War Within?

A majority of what’s new for Augmentation focus on their specialization talents, which surprisingly provide us with a bit more uptime on our strongest burst cooldown, Upheaval. This is primarily due to Accretion and Rumbling Earth, which can help you finish off games as long as you are constantly using Eruption.

Although there isn’t many exciting changes that make this spec super powerful in the current meta, we have the introduction of Hero talents that every specialization receives. Not to mention, we receive two Hero builds that we can choose from, which are Scalecommander and Chronowarden.

Both of these Hero builds seem quite promising when played competitively, especially with Chronowarden giving us a huge Haste modifier after using Tip the Scales. This can assist us with maximizing out our Ebon Might buff on our allies, and to optimize our Upheaval uptime. Scalecommander on the other hand helps us with our lackluster damage profile, and also grants us more Essence Burst procs we can utilize to receive higher Eruption uptime.

Overall, it’s hard to justify which Hero build is the strongest in the current meta with how infrequent this spec is played in competitive arena, but ones who do play Augmentation favor more-so with our Scalecommander Hero tree. We cover more in detail about our Hero talents in our talents section.

Augmentation Evoker Playstyle

The identity and playstyle of Augmentation remains quite the same as we enter the new expansion. You are constantly playing a support-like role, which revolves around buffing your allies to make them deal more damage or healing depending on the target you are prioritizing to buff.

The only source of burst comes from our primary Empower spell, Upheaval, as well as Mass Eruption from our Scalecommander Hero tree if you choose to play it. Aside from your damage, you are using Eruption as much as you can, especially from your Essence Burst procs which you naturally get mainly from your Living Flame and Bombardments from Scalecommander. The more Eruptions you throw out, the more Intellect you receive. This inherently buffs your Ebon Might to be more impactful on your allies.
