What’s New for Arms Warrior in The War Within?

Entering the new expansion, Arms Warrior continues to experience the same flow and playstyle as we recently did with Dragonflight, but instead of completely changing our rotation, we now have more tools added onto our kit that make our spec even stronger than before.

That being said, it’s important to understand where these changes mainly come from, to which centers on our newly introduced Hero talents. These more or less make your rotation only improve the effectiveness of abilities we are already accustomed to, including Bladestorm and Overpower, making them feel way more fluid to press in the process.

Directing our attention to our Warrior and Arms talent trees, these are now completely revamped, including a shift of node positioning and talent point allocation so we can get our hands on ones we originally weren’t able to, especially with our Rumbling Earth talent that reduces the cooldown of our Shockwave against cleaves or pet based comps.

As we enter into our Hero talent trees, we have two options. Slayer and Colossal, to which Slayer tends to be the recommended pick. This is due to the amount of times Colossal has been nerfed, making this way less of an option to pick from. For Slayer, the centerpiece of this tree focuses on Slayer’s Dominance for a passive damage increase and a debuff, Mark for Execution, that applies on the target for more Execute damage.

We also receive more Sudden Death procs from Imminent Demise, which synergizes amazingly with our capstone node, Unrelenting Onslaught to further reduce the cooldown on our Bladestorm after consuming Mark for Execution, and to apply 2 stacks of a damage buff called Overwhelmed. Overwhelmed is typically applied through our Bladestorm ticks from Overwhelming Blades, but adds a bit more uptime on our damage buffs.

Overall, this spec seems to be quite a deadly force in competitive play, as Bladestorm becomes more of a rotational spell with way more benefits than previously in Dragonflight.
