Party Macros

As a Holy Paladin, most of your macros will be based around helping and supporting your team. Your toolkit is full of incredible utility that needs to be used on the right target at the right time. In order to make it easier, you should make party1 and party2 macros, or use the names of your teammates. This way, you won’t need to change a target every time you want to cast a spell on an ally. If you go with player names, make sure you change the names in the macro every time you change teammates. These macros are incredibly useful for most of your utility, which includes Blessing of Protection, Blessing of Freedom, Blessing of Sacrifice, Cleanse, Word of Glory, and Lay on Hands.

Modifier Macros

As binds will more than likely become an issue, one way to make this requirement slightly easier is by using shift modifiers.

This will use the ability on party1, and then if you hold shift and press the same bind, it will instead use it on party2. You can substitute this for any party macro featured above to minimize bind space.

Focus and Arena Macros

These macros follow the same idea as party macros and eliminate the need to manually change targets every time. They are very useful for CC and interrupts. While focus macros are easier to get used to and could be sufficient in most cases, arena macros are a lot more versatile as they allow you to interact with literally any opponent in the game at any point. The downside of making arena macros is the number of binds you will have to allocate. Not to mention, they are a lot more difficult to get used to. You could start by using focus macros for most of your abilities and arena macros for some of the most important CC, and expand the more you get used to it. As a Paladin, the spells that benefit the most from such macros are Hammer of Justice, Rebuke, and Repentance.

Pet Taunt Macro

As a Holy Paladin, there’s one macro that completely sets the bar in this category, pet taunting. We highly suggest picking this up as this gives us another way of breaking Crowd Control, including Freezing Trap or Blind, to increase your overall uptime.

Stance Macro

While not necessary, our next macro offers a nice quality of life improvement by allowing you to seamlessly swap between your two main auras with just a single button.

Cancelaura

When playing against Mages, you definitely want to get your hands on cancelaura macros, since they will try to steal some of your very useful utility. This is especially valuable for Blessing of Protection and Blessing of Freedom. Instead of creating a separate bind for it, you could add it to an already existing bind, for example – your mount.
